‘DocBlock’s Crystal Red’ evolved from an early anthurium hybrid selected for its dominant genetics’ expression of red hues seen in its new emergent leaves. ‘DocBlock Crystal Red’ has been under 40 years of continuous dedicated development to refine this unique velvet leaf Anthurium’s color that now clearly expresses a “primary red” (“fire-engine” red) intensity as Dr. Block had originally envisioned! Even as the leaf matures to green, a notable “red eye” persists where the petiole emerges on the front of the leaf.
The verso (back) side of the leaf brings a fascinating negative image of the front! Dr. Block is a physician who has observed that the red-colored branching veins on the back of a developing leaf resembles the architecture of circulating blood!
On a spiritual level, red crystals are some of our world’s most beautiful stones; and they’re the root chakra represented by the color of red and the element of Earth. Red is associated with love, passion, romance, warmth, and heat; and the colored crystals symbolize all the physical attributes and vitality. Legend says that wearing or using a red crystal gives motion, strength, and a boost of energy!
